Facebook Users Can Now Raise Money For Charities,

Using Facebook Marketplace powered by Oodle, individuals can now sell items they are no longer using and give the proceeds to one of thousands of participating charities

SAN MATEO, CA – March 4, 2009 – As purse strings tighten, charities nationwide are suffering from dwindling contributions and fewer resources. Facebook Marketplace, which today re-launched powered by Oodle, allows individuals to sell items that they are no longer using and give the proceeds to one of the thousands of charities participating in the program.

How it Works:

Everyone has lots of things that are no longer being used, but are too valuable to throw away. Using Facebook Marketplace powered by Oodle, users post an item for sale and pick a charity that will get the proceeds. For example, someone might have an extra digital camera in their closet and decide to sell it to raise money for a local animal shelter. Alternatively, users can choose to give away things to their friends or to members of their local community, such as tickets to a concert or baby gear that has been outgrown.
